JOHN ALDEN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY
John Alden was among the Pilgrims who arrived in Plymouth Colony (now Massachusetts) on the Mayflower in 1620. In addition to his role as a barrel maker, he became a bondsman, assuming responsibility for colonial debt. He was very active in colonial affairs, even serving as assistant to the governor of Plymouth Colony. He was made famous in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, The Courtship of Miles Standish, that tells how he courted Priscilla Mullins for his friend Miles Standish until asked, “Why don’t you speak for yourself, John?” Alden married Priscilla and they had 11 children.
Effective April 1, 2022, 21st Century Life and Health Company, Inc. purchased John Alden Life Insurance Company from Interfinancial Inc., a subsidiary of Assurant, Inc. John Alden Life has historically been a provider of individual and group life, accident and health insurance. The policies are 100% reinsured and managed by third-party administrators.
